DESCRIPTION
We were contracted by yellowhead gas to complete a gas leak survey for their high pressure pipeline system. In the past they had flown this by drone since it was assumed the area was too remote to access.
CHALLENGES
Other contractors in the past have declined the to walk it on foot since the perceived risk was too high.
OUR SOLUTION
Our experience in the past has mostly been in the Energy sector. This includes remote areas that sometimes only have helicopter access, and have an underlying risk of wildlife. We train our employees on wildlife safety, and we lean on our SOP and OH&S manual to be able to complete the work safely.
RESULT
We successfully completed the high pressure system that Yellowhead gas tasked us with. We saved them more than half the cost they would have spent if they flew the pipeline with a drone.
