CASE STUDY
The Secret of Success
DESCRIPTION
A Gas co-op near grande prairie has had some mixed results with geomatics contractors in the past. Thier need was for both a gas leak survey and sub meter accuracy for GPS point data collected. Although having had a sour experience two years prior from a geomatics company that predominantly served the Energy Industry, Bill took a chance on us when it seemed like a tall ask.
CHALLENGE
This gas co-op is located just south east of Grande Prairie where it is very wooded, is home to patches of muskeg and ephemeral streams. When getting GPS data points, cell was not available and only satellite data was.
METHOD
Despite the challenging terrain, we strategically planned to complete the pasture and farmland during the spring first, and then completed the muskeg portions during the fall. We also utilized survey grade receivers and applied RTX corrections to achieve the sub meter accuracy. Our crews also took their time to ensure injuries were minimal during the completion of this work.
RESULT
We completed the job on budget, and to the level they required. It was our core value of keeping ourselves Accountable to our promise to East Smoky to complete the work.
